Avalanche, coming off 5-day break, eager to face Jets

Jets call up Dano from Moose

This article is about the Winnipeg Jets facing the Colorado Avalanche tonight at 8 p.m. The Avalanche had an unusual five-day break after a tough loss against the Florida Panthers last weekend. Not only are the Colorado Avalanche facing their first game against the Jets tonight, but they’re playing the game in front of their Denver hometown fans. The Jets called Marko Dano from the Manitoba Moose in case Bryan Little and Drew Stafford can’t play due to their injuries.

This story is significant because the Winnipeg Jets will be playing the Colorado Avalanche after their rare five-day break (and because the Avalanche lost the last game they played). Since breaks this long are rare in hockey, we’ll get to see if it has helped or hurt the Avalanche in their playing. After the Winnipeg Jets defeated the Dallas Stars last night 4-1, it will be interesting to see if the Jets can continue to win with the same lineup. This story is also newsworthy because the Winnipeg Jets and the Colorado Avalanche have similar win/loss records (Jets are 3-4-0 and Avalanche are 3-2-0), and with the injuries a few of the Jets players have faced, people will be watching to see if 21-year-old Marko Dano gets to play.
